New Year's Eve

Grandma headed to California to spend the first week of the year with Aunt Carol this morning. We miss her voice and presence in the house. Thank you Grandma for spending Christmas with us and all of the kind gifts you gave. But most of all thank you for your love. We ALL love you!

Tonight we spend New Year's Eve with our family Amy, Jon, Jake, Gilian and Rhett. It will be a great night. The night should be filled with laughter and fun; and maybe a martini or two or three.

Happy New Year to all.

With love, three Bs and an E.

a day of Jack

I started this morning taking Jack to the Pediatrician for his 3 year appointment. Yes I know I am two months late but better late than...
It is with great pleasure that I get to say that Jack weighs 25 lbs. 2 ozs - HE IS ON THE GROWTH CHART! Just under the third percentile, but hey, HE IS ON THE CHART! He is 34 1/2" tall - nowhere near being on the chart here, but we'll take what we can get.

Our final victory today... we we're outside playing in the snow and Jack got on the swing and was able to swing and 'pump' all by himself. A small victory for some but an amazing victory for him.

Tonight I go to bed a proud Mommy. Goodnight my sweet boy. Goodnight.

here we go again...

Once again the Bieringer's have had a pipe burst. One of the pipes from the boiler burst sometime in the last 24 - 36 hours. If you don't remember, we had a pipe burst in Massachusetts exactly one year ago. Lucky for us the pipe burst under the first floor, in our crawl space below our family room. I thought there was something wrong when I woke up this morning (weather report: 10 degrees and snowing) and our first floor was like a sauna - warm and humid, water dripping down the windows and my hair curling like never before. There are 23 year olds who's skin isn't as moisturized as mine is today.

QUICK CHRISTMAS RECAP.....
White Christmas
Excellent company and a pretty good meal, if I do say so myself
Beautiful decorations and the magic of Christmas was laced throughout the day. From Jack's first peek at the tree in the morning to his asking, "will Santa come again tomorrow", as he fell asleep on Christmas night.

Jack B:
Got his microwave - LOVES IT
Loves his new tricycle. Can pedal AND steer at the same time
The guitar is a big hit and so is the keyboard and microphone.

Ellis B:
Loves her doll house
Gets very frustrated with her tricycle. Can steer but can't pedal
REALLY loves her new bike helmet, knee and elbow pads. They are the perfect accessory, they go with jammies, skirts and sweat pants.

I hope you had a Merry Christmas!

things I wish I could give my children this Christmas (or wish I had time for)

I wish I had more money this Christmas. I know Christmas isn't about what you can buy but let's face it when the only gift your child asks for is a microwave and you have already spent all of your money on everything else, you want your child to find a microwave under the tree on the 25th.

I wish I has memorized, "The night before Christmas". It's an American tradition and I don't know the words - lucky for me I found a board book of the story for $1.00 at Target.

I wish I could snap my fingers and have the outside and inside of the house decorated. It must be frustrating for them to have me in and out of the playroom and house, when what they really want is to play with me on the floor.

I wish I could have 'our chef' cook the Christmas dinner. It also takes hours to plan the menu, shop for the ingredients, prepare the meal, run back out to the store for the one item you forgot, finish the meal and serve the meal. Again, precious hours I could spend with two B's.

Most of all I wish the magic of Christmas, my son is just starting to learn, would live in their hearts forever. Never again, at any other time of year will I be able to get him to nap and go to bed on time - all because he is afraid Santa won't stop at our home and bring his microwave.

May you have all the money, time and magic needed to have the bestest Christmas ever!

Merry Christmas from three Bs and one E.

virgin post

What can I tell you about us...

Ellis B, 2 yrs old: She has the biggest eyes I have ever seen and beautiful curly hair (that never looks combed after her nap). She has the attitude of her Mother and the brains of her Father. She is wildly independent and can stop you in your tracks with just one look! As quickly as she can make you think twice, she can warm your heart with her smile, especially if you’re male. Her favorite way to get what she wants is to lay on the floor and lick it until you give in; this tactic has helped her acquire a shoe collection envied by any self respecting woman. She swims like a fish in the pool with her father and climbs the furniture like a true adventurer. She says, “I love me” instead of, “I love you”. She goes to sleep at night with one stuffed pig, a sheep, a cow, two groovy girls - both named Stella, four silkies, one Berenstain Bears book and two blankets - how there’s room in that crib for her is beyond me. Her favorite things are her train table and trains, bouncing balls of all sizes and to swing on the swing set until the day ends. She continues to get bigger, talk more and follow her brother around like a beautiful shadow, although I don’t think Ellis will ever truly be in anyone’s shadow.

Jack B, 3 yrs old: He is still our Handsome Jack. He has the heart of someone who loves bigger than he is. He’ll tell you in a minute, “We’re not twins” when someone asks; and he says it with attitude. He likes school, after getting past a couple weeks of sheer terror. He surprises us with Spanish, songs and stories of kids we have yet to meet. His mind moves faster than his mouth and has zero interest in getting out of diapers. He loves to cook, makes a mean cup of coffee and can crack an egg without getting the shell in the bowl. He loves his adventures in the mountains and swimming lessons with Daddy. He is turning out to be Paul’s right-hand-man with projects around the house; the projects take twice as long but they are three times the fun. He’ll ask for a nap when he is tired, but he will follow his cousin Jake (age 5) around until he drops of sheer exhaustion. He’s learning to ask for what he wants but when it comes to Ellis he know he is bigger and stronger and that a push or shove works twice as fast. His imagination is as big as the universe but he, “doesn’t know how to wait”. He says, “graaby” instead of “gravy”, “scoooch” instead of “move over” and his last name better than any telemarketer. Speaking of which, the best way to get rid of a telemarketer is to hand the phone to your 3 year old!

Paul E: Continues to love his job and Colorado. He’s been promoted and deals with the added stress by running at a morning hour that is ungodly in my book. He looks forward to a winter of skiing and snowboarding, along with quiet nights in the hot tub. New Year’s Eve we’ll celebrate nine years together. His hair is a little grayer but his arms still make me feel safe, and he will always be my sweetie.

Erica B: I’m still home with the kids and no matter what some call it, it is a full-time job. Some days it’s a part-time job too. Colorado is growing on me, the addition of our new neighbors has made things more enjoyable. I’m learning my way around town, my GPS makes this alot easier. In November I celebrated the FOUR-0 with my family and great friends, it wasn’t as bad as I thought. I think, “40 being the new 30” is a bunch of fooie; 40 is 40. Oh well, it beats the alternative!! I have everything to be thankful for... a healthy, loving and safe family, beautiful friends - old and new, and the chance to do it all again, tomorrow.

Wishing you a happy holiday filled with dreams that come true and the best new year you can imagine.

Love, Erica, Paul, Jack and Ellis
